At the eastern edge of the fenced area, the west wall of a building with three niches, which may have served a public function, is preserved to a great height. It has been proposed that this was the Bouleuterion of Roman Aptera, although no proof of this identification, an inscription for example, has been found. Test trenches inside the building have revealed that it was founded on an earlier structure.
